FACS

Playing dark, propulsive music that lies at the intersection of post-punk and post-rock, Facsformed when the acclaimed Chicago indie band Disappears went on hiatus in late 2016. After that group's bassist, Damon Carruesco, left to concentrate on his visual art and his electronic project Tüth, the remaining members — guitarist/vocalist Brian Case, guitarist Jonathan Van Herik, and drummer Noah Leger — decided they wanted to continue making music together. For their new act, Case switched to bass, and the trio began posting demos online in early 2017. Facs soon signed to Trouble in Mind and recorded their debut album Negative Houses at Chicago's Electrical Audio studio with John Congelton in June 2017. After finishing the album, Van Herik left Facs; Case then returned to guitar, and the band added former We Regazzi bassist Alianna Kalaba to the lineup. Negative Houses was released in March 2018. ~ Heather Phares
